Reservoir Dogs
Eidos has taken some interesting risks this year, and I can’t help but admit that some of their investments have paid off. While Just Cause, by Avalanche Studios, received a mixed bag of reviews, I'm tempted to think Reservoir Dogs might fare in the same results. The ideas, however, that accompany the movie-to-game Reservoir Dogs, bring some very high replay values to the overall gameplay concept. In one case the game, like the movie, is short, has snappy dialogue, takes round-about ways to get to the point, and is ...

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
As the final Mortal Kombat game for the Xbox and Playstation 2, I can’t help but admit some measure of grave disappointment. Right off the bat, the game is missing tag options, tournament, and survival modes. Instead, for the basic fighting options there’s just Arcade, Versus and Practice. That’s it. Nothing more. Outside of the basic fighting, there’s some redeemably good stuff going on for MKA. Like the Motor Kombat, Konquest mode (save its lacking coop mode) and the Create-A-Kombatant feature.

Mortal Kombat, first of all, is ...

Ford Bold Moves Street Racing
Do you own a PS2 or Xbox? Presumably, yes. Do you like racing games and want the best racing experience your money can buy? Presumably, yes, and have you already played Gran Turismo 4 or Forza Motorsport? Yes...No? It all comes down to the last question for racing fans looking for a decent racing title. Because if you’ve already played either of the two top selling titles for the PS2 or Xbox, not much here in Bold Moves Street Racing will appeal to serious racing fans.

Arcade gamers ...

LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Much like a great invention, Star Wars doesn’t fade out; it just gets improved over the years. Whether it is trading cards, video games, conventions, novelty items, pet costumes, or even LEGO building sets, we will probably never see the end of Star Wars. Let’s face it; Star Wars is an iconic experience for every generation. With the LEGO Star Wars video games, children get a particularly rewarding experience. But the fact of the matter is that LEGO Star Wars II also appeals to every generation—kids and adults alike ...

NASCAR 07
EA seems to have this thing with releasing “new” games without there being much new and exciting. If it isn’t NCAA 07 or Madden 07 suffering from this fate it is some of EA’s other sports titles. The latest in this trend is NASCAR 07. NASCAR 07 will appeal to those who like arcade-like racing with a dose of simulation.

Now it’s not that NASCAR 07 is horrible game. In terms of a racing game (especially one that is meant to appeal to the NASCAR fans), NASCAR 07 ...

Painkiller: Hell Wars
With the Xbox’s life span dwindling faster than a Hollywood marriage, finding a new game for the big black box is getting harder. Still, finding a good new shooter game is even harder yet. Thankfully, People Can Fly’s console rendition of Painkiller has managed to renew the shooter genre for the Xbox. The game offers well over 20 levels, 6 weapons, and 70 distinct enemies to dispatch -- any way you like.

Unless you’re already familiar with the back-story in Painkiller, it may take several play-throughs to even ...

NFL Street 2
Back in the ‘90s (yeah like that was a crazy long time ago) we were introduced to a great football game. This game featured hard hits, jaw-dropping graphics, pick-up-and-play playability & was mainly the only “cartoon/fantasy” version of football in the industry - This game was NFL Blitz. Published & developed by Midway, the creator of the ultra-violent Mortal Kombat series. For almost a decade Blitz owned the fantasy/violent football game genre, and slowly began degrading in both quality & the initial sparks that made the series so great. ...

Hitman: Blood Money
Almost six years ago, the gaming world fell in love with a new game developed by IO Interactive called Hitman. At first, the game remained relatively unknown amongst the casual gamers. But that wouldn't last long. Soon, word of the game which let you take control of an unknown hitman with only two numbers to identify him spread. Gamers everywhere began to pick up the game, and parents began to worry even more about the violence in video games.

Fast forward to 2006. Now, Agent 47 is a ...

Halo 2: Team Swat and BTB
What would Xbox Live be without Halo 2? Despite the fact the Xbox 360 is approaching its one year anniversary, no game in the Xbox 360 library has come close to dethroning Halo 2 as the most played game on Xbox Live. How does Bungie do it? Well, besides the almost flawless gameplay online, Bungie is also constantly updating the Halo 2 matchmaking gametypes. Every few months several new gametypes are added into the mix while others are removed. The latest additions to the playlist are the unranked Big ...

Cars
Cars is the latest movie from the computer animation wizards at Pixar. As with all things Pixar, where there is a movie there will be a game. Such is the fate of Cars: the video game. Now, video games based on movies have never been known to great success. While Cars looks like it is falling into this sad tradition, there is one savings grace: this game is meant for kids, not racing experts. So while there are a number of confusing design decisions and an overall lack of ...
