I have always been a fan of car racing games on the Xbox console. I am glad to see that their are a few new ones that are that will be released or have been within a months time. Juiced out of all the rest seems to be the one that I myself am looking most forward to. Overall it looks like a well rounded racing game that has some great physics, some outstanding graphics, and even the car customizations we have seen in games like Need For Speed Underground (NFSU). Even though this game is not ready to go gold just yet I am sure it will bring even more competition to the racing game genre.

From what we have seen in the hands on demo of Juiced the physics aspect of the game seems to be just above par. The physics of the game is how different things react to one another. For example, how the car reacts with the road or slamming into a wall at ninety miles per hour. When compared to Project Gotham Racing's (PGR) physics I think Juiced falls a little short but this is nothing to worry about because it is pretty different from PGR and is still strong in the actual gameplay. However since the game has not yet been release we can hope that Juice Games, the developer, will fine tune this area of the game before its final release.

When I started playing the hands on demo I was quite surprised at the only three playable cars in the demo. They truly looked real and you could even see how shiny the paint was on the car. Like NFSU you will be able to customize your car in Juiced. There is a large number of different colors as well as objects you can add on to your car. I really like this aspect of a racing game as it makes it feel like it is your own car because you where able to pick its own color and how it looked. Games like PGR only allow you to change the color of the car to a few different colors which was not a big problem, but it is always fun to have your own car that you like not because it is the only color you can choose. As for the different accessories you can add to the car this is also a neat part of the game. The only thing I disliked about this part is you can't mix and match different spoilers with different fenders, decals, ect... However there is a large amount of different combinations in the game to make it feel like you still have your own unique car. Another neat part of the game is you also have neon lights underneath your car which gives off a nice effect on the road as you are racing your opponents.

Aside from the actual car graphics the environmental graphics are good as well. They don't looks as great as the cars but they are nice to look at while cruising down the streets. There will also be a few settings in the game where you can change the time of day and even control the weather. The worst part of the environmental graphics has to be the crowd at each corner or along the street. They are their to cheer you on but they are as flat as paper and look very fake. It seems as if they would blow over as you zoom by in your ultra realistic looking car. Although this is a small part of the graphics it still takes away from how everything looks. Then again because this game is not yet released there is still the chance of enhancing it before the final release.

Another neat part of this game is the ability to use Nitrous Oxide. Nitrous Oxide is used in cars and serves the purpose of increasing the cars speed. This is similarly to in older games how you would have a set number of boosts you could use before the end of the race. However in this game it is called Nitrous Oxide which is more realistic than just calling it a boost because Nitrous Oxide is actually used outside of video games for the same purpose. In Juiced you have a meter on the right part of the screen that indicates how much you have left. When you use the Nitrous (by simply pressing the Y button) your vision will be blurred and your car will start to travel faster. Because your vision is blurred during this period it will be a skill that you will have to master or you will be slamming into walls left and right at 120 mph.

Overall this game defiantly has to potential to compete with some of the greater racing games. The physics part of the game is just above par, the graphics of the cars are extremely amazing and the customizations you can perform on the cars are just as good. Juiced will also be playable on Xbox Live. Just incase if you get board racing the computers built into the game you can hop online for some real multi-player action. Jucied will for sure be one of the better racing games once it is released this September.
